Black History

In the past black people were locked in chains
And dubbed by the media as mentally insane
So they fought back to be educated and free
Attended black colleges to earn a Master's degrees
We would like to give thanks to Dr. Martin Luther King
And all of the courage and leadership he was able to bring
Remember his good friend, her name was Rosa Parks
She stood up for her rights regardless of other's remarks
Good ol' Marcus Garvey managed to conduct the Black Star
People remember its floating glory shining from afar
So take the opportunity to rest from your day
And think about those in the past who helped pave the way
